Chandigarh: To fill 2,840 seats in five-year law courses and 1,952 seats in the three-year programme, the state government has notified admissions for the 2020-21 session. As a result, 27 law institutes across the state have started the admission process. Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, has been appointed as the competent authority to conduct the online counselling of law students. Dr Anshu Kataria, chairman, Aryans College of Law, said Punjab had emerged as the destination to pursue legal education. TNS

160 more arrive from Rajasthan

Abohar: In all, 160 more labourers returned to the state from Rajasthan on Thursday. A team of the Health Department screened them at Gumjal village along the Abohar-Sriganganagar highway. Last week, 2,582 labourers were ferried from Jaisalmer to Abohar, while hundreds of others returned on foot. Abohar SDM Jaspal Singh Brar said the returnees would be sent to their home towns as per the guidelines. OC

Abohar admn distributes ration

Abohar: The Abohar administration on Thursday distributed ration among newspaper hawkers, rickshaw-pullers, and sanitation and sewerage workers at Government Senior Secondary School here. Earlier, the kits were distributed among e-rickshaw pullers and tempo drivers. State Congress chief Sunil Jakhar's nephew Sandeep Jakhar said all needy would be provided with free ration kits. TNS

Infected ASHA workers to get aid

Jalandhar: Five ASHA workers, who have tested positive for Covid-19, will be given an incentive of Rs10,000 each. Responding to the demands by ASHA workers, the government has also decided to extend Rs50 lakh health insurance cover to all workers on Covid duty. TNS
