Rebel Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leaders led by Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Dhindsa today organised a function in Longowal town of the district to pay homage to Sant Harchand Singh Longowal on his death anniversary. The leaders targeted the Badals while Lehra MLA Parminder Dhindsa said more SAD leaders were likely to join their group.

“SAD (Democratic) and its leaders will always work to promote the true principles of its former presdent Sant ji. Sukhbir Singh Badal and his team have forgotten the principles and they will have to pay a big price for it in the coming days,” Dhindsa said during a function at a gurdwara.

He alleged that sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib took place when the Badals were in power in Punjab while copies of the holy book also went missing during their tenure.

“Whenever anyone asks Sukhbir about his failures, he has no answer. He always tries to avoid such questions, but he cannot run away more as we have all the evidence to expose his misdeeds,” Dhindsa said.

Meanwhile, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot also paid homage to Longowal.

The minister said the state government had decided to organise a low-key function to mark the day as mass gatherings had been banned due to the spread of Covid. He said Longowal had laid down his life for the peace and prosperity of Punjab and he would be remembered by the people for centuries.
