Noted economist Isher Judge Ahluwalia died today after battling brain cancer for months. She was 74.

The wife of former Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Isher served as the head of the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Affairs for 15 years. She stepped down from the post on August 10 due to poor health.
CM Capt Amarinder Singh tweeted, "Saddened to learn of the passing away of Dr Isher Judge Ahluwalia, one of India's most distinguished economists." — TNS
