Most Congress MPs attend Lok Sabha on Day 1

Most MPs from Punjab attended Lok Sabha proceedings today with Amritsar's Gurjit Aujla and Khadoor Saheb's Jasbir Singh Gill seated in visitors' galleries as their house chamber seats were unavailable.

Also present was Anandpur Sahib MP Manish Tewari who made two interventions on the first day. Tewari opposed the revocation of Question Hour by the government. Participating in the Zero Hour, he demanded the inclusion of Punjabi among official languages of Jamp;K alongside Urdu, Hindi and Dogri.

Tewari said several people who settled in Jamp;K post Partition spoke Punjabi and Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1822 personally oversaw the coronation of Maharaja Ghulab Singh. Also present was Ludhiana MP Ravneet Bittu, the newly appointed Congress whip in the Lok Sabha, who sat in the Rajya Sabha for some part along with party chief whip K Suresh. Jalandhar MP Santokh Choudhary and Fatehgarh Sahib MP Amar Singh were also there as was AAP MP Bhagwant Mann of Sangrur.
