The BJP state unit has refused to comment on its alliance with the SAD, saying it is for the party high command to take a call. It accused the Opposition of misleading farmers on the minimum support price (MSP) issue.

Ashwani Sharma, State BJP Chief

'Oppn misleading'

The Opposition is misleading farmers saying the MSP will go. It will stay and every grain of the farmer's produce will be purchased by the govt.

State BJP president Ashwani Sharma, while talking to The Tribune, said: "We firmly stand by the farm ordinances and there is no question of any compromise, locally, on the Bills. As far as the alliance with the SAD is concerned, we have nothing to say. A call will be taken by our high command."

Calling the ordinances revolutionary, Sharma said "the political parties showing opposition are misleading farmers. The Congress, particularly in Punjab, wants to divert the attention of farmers from its failure to address the issues of illegal mining, illicit liquor and joblessness, besides others". The state president said the party would visit villages to readdress any misgivings about the Bills among farmers. — TNS
