New Delhi, September 18

Former Punjab minister and senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu today broke his nearly yearlong silence on Twitter by coming out strongly against the farm Bills passed by the Lok Sabha yesterday and daring a revolution against the move.

Sidhu, who last tweeted on September 25, 2019, announcing the vacation of his official bungalow as Punjab Cabinet minister after resigning, today said farming was the soul of Punjab and attack on the soul and identity of the state would not be tolerated.

"Farmer is the soul of Punjab. Wounds on the body can heal but wounds on the soul fester. We will not tolerate this assault on our identity and soul. A war bugle has been sounded. I stand with farmers in the spirit of Punjab and Punjabiyat," he tweeted expressing solidarity with the farmers.

Sidhu tweeted that farmers were the pride and turban of every Punjabi. "Sarkaarein tamaam umr yehi bhool karti hain, dhool unke chehre par thi, aaeena saaf karti hain," Sidhu tweeted a verse, declaring support for farmers and telling them to prepare for a struggle against the Centre. — TNS
