Chandigarh, September 16

Speaking strongly against the farm Bills, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today said the farmers' unrest could be a fodder to terror supporters in Pakistan.

The CM said this after leading a Congress delegation to submit a memorandum to Governor VP Singh Badnore, seeking his intervention to "recommend to the Union Government not to pursue the agriculture reform Bills further."

He again clarified that the Punjab Government wasn't consulted before tabling the contentious Bills.

Why is Harsimrat silent, asks CM

Isn't Harsimrat Badal a member of the Cabinet? Why didn't she protest there? Why doesn't she speak outside either on the issue?

Flanked by PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar and other senior Congress leaders, the Chief Minister told the Governor that the party felt that any move to tinker with the present procurement system, might not be conducive for the peace and development of the region, which faced serious challenges of public order due to a live international border.

"The enactment of the remaining two Bills would ruin Punjab. If the MSP regime ends the agriculture sector would be ruined in Punjab," he said.

The CM said all, except the SAD and BJP, were on board at the all-party meeting he had convened on the issue.
