Chandigarh, October 28
Just about two months after the Sangrur DC and other authorities were told to pitch a tent for a week near a carcass ground to understand common people's plight, the HC has asserted it was convinced that contempt proceedings were required to be initiated.
The Bench of Justice SN Satyanarayana and Justice Archana Puri, however, stopped short of issuing the notice after the state counsel submitted he would see that the carcass ground was shifted within 24 hours pursuant to a notice issued by the PPCB Chairman.
The Bench observed it was convinced that contempt proceedings were required to be initiated against the Secretary for the Rural Development Department, DC, Sangrur, SDM of Lehragaga and gram panchayat, Bakhora Khurd, in Lehragaga tehsil, "who are hand in glove in trying to defeat the order of the court dated September 7". — TNS
