On October 3, the police seized 600 kg poppy husk and 65,000 sedative tablets by intercepting a truck near Kallarkhera village and recovered poppy husk and sedative tablets hidden under salt bags. Driver Karamjit Singh Kamma was arrested. The preliminary interrogation indicated that the consignment was allegedly to be delivered to Jasbir Singh.

Jasbir was booked under the NDPS Act but evaded arrest for more than a month. Investigation reportedly indicated that he had been paying heavily to truck drivers for transporting similar consignments from Rajasthan which were reportedly sold in the Malwa region in Punjab.

Meanwhile, a court allowed the seven-day custodial interrogation of Lovepreet Kamboj of Jattwala village and Surinder Singh Lucky of Nilianwali Sirsa, who were nabbed while allegedly smuggling 3.1 kg of opium recently from Rajasthan.
